The Salon Professional Academy participates in many industry events as well as sponsors others. And every now and then we are featured in articles that appear in industry publications.

Events

• First TSPA Fashion Show | 8/27/09 | The Salon Professional Academy
  7 pm- Thursday August 27, 2009. The Salon Professional Academy turned into a New York Cat Walk; Video graphics 10 feet tall, lights, action, camera- Let the show begin!
  Under the leadership of cosmetology educator, Shannon Gillen, The Academy’s Cosmetology & Esthetics students put on a fashion show for their friends and family. Students’ produced looks from the 50’s 60’s 70’s, 80’s 90’s & today’s current Fashion and Hairstyling trends. The Theme- a Walk through Fashion.
  Styles encompassed looks that would bring out the best in all the models. Clothing was provided by The Urban Exchange, the downtown Tacoma retailer specializing in vintage, retro, and the urban experience clothing.
  
  The audience was all a twitter with comments like- “oh my, do I remember looking like that!”
  “I can’t believe that I once wore that look!”
  To comments like—“cool, I love that! I want my hair to look like that!”.
  With the help of D.J., George Hollis of “Gotta Dance Productions”, the music was also a memory jogger. Swinging to the sounds of the Temptations and current melodies that sometimes make you wonder if it is a melody…the models strutted their stuff.
  
  The evening was topped off with food- always a welcomed feature. However this time it was not only welcomed but delicious! The Adriaic Grill & Wine Bar Italian Restaurant, located at 4201 south Steele Street, locally owned by the Chef Bill Trudnowski and his wife, Monique, like to contribute to the local businesses by supporting community events.
  When developing The Salon Professional Academy’s fashion culture, it was decided to focus on ‘foundations, fundamentals, and principles of design’. With these skill sets, cosmetologist & estheticians will be prepared to meet the next onslaught of fashion demands.
  To the students of the Academy, Bravo! You produced quite an event.
  
• Month of October – Breast Cancer Awareness | October 10th
  Academy students, alumni and staff will participate in the American Cancer Society - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Monthly Celebrations: each month we gather to celebrate the accomplishments of our students, host guest speakers and hold training sessions to enhance student’s educational experience

Career Fairs: graduating students showcase their skills and talents to prospective salon and spa owners.

Graduation: a celebration attended by family and friends to honor the graduating class of students.
